Erfurt (dpa / th) - Around 43 percent of the employees who rely on a computer for their work in Thuringian ministries can currently work completely mobile.

That comes from the answer to a small question of the FDP parliamentary group chairman in the state parliament, Thomas Kemmerich.

Of the 2,450 employees in the eight ministries and the State Chancellery who need computers to complete their tasks, 1,061 can work permanently and completely outside the office, for example using laptops.

In addition, the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment each have 40, 92 and 110 mobile devices such as laptops, which can be given out to employees at short notice so that they can work on the go or from home.

Looking at the numbers, Kemmerich criticized the staff's equipment.

For example, the Ministry of the Interior in particular has to improve, since only about 13.5 percent of the employees who rely on computers can work permanently on the move.

“The state government has obviously not internalized that we are in competition for the best minds.

It shouldn't fail with the laptop, ”Kemmerich complained.

Last but not least, the pandemic has shown how helpful it is to be able to work from home.

His group demands that the ministries expand the range of mobile working as soon as possible.
