Lüneburg (dpa / lni) - The Lüneburg web designer Benjamin Albrecht is building his hometown from Lego bricks.

The brick houses the size of a doll's house are usually constructed in a 1:47 ratio, says Albrecht.

His first project was the renovated 400-year-old warehouse for sacks of salt with a large crane wheel on the 1st floor, where the 42-year-old lives himself.

He captured the charm of the special old town flair in the miniature edition; according to Albrecht, the many angles were particularly difficult to recreate.

The tinkerer invests most of the work in measuring the buildings with a laser device and familiarizing them with a special 3-D program for Lego.

It plans the models virtually and calculates the number of stones.

The Lüneburg Museum wants to show its exhibits from selected historical buildings this year.

“We want to address the target group of children and young people, but also adult model makers, and convey to them the digital and real reconstruction of the model buildings,” says Museum Director Heike Düselder.

The plan is to exhibit eleven buildings in summer or autumn.

The subject of model making is definitely a topic in the museum, said Düselder.

The holdings contain numerous models of buildings and ensembles from earlier times, including a wooden construction of the steeple of the St. John's Church in the Hanseatic city or a model of the saltworks.
