TASS informs about this with reference to the press service of the department.

Oleg Ivanov, deputy head of the Ministry of Digital Science, said that at present the coordinates of subscribers' devices are secret and telecom operators are obliged to ensure its observance.

It is noted that the coordinates cannot always be promptly transferred to the bodies involved in operational-search activities.

Ivanov noted that when searching for missing people, hours are counted.

He said that tens of thousands of people are lost in Russia every year.

"Telecommunications operators can provide service information for communication facilities, including the coordinates of the subscriber devices of the missing citizens," the deputy minister said.

Earlier it was reported that the State Duma Committee on Information Policy is developing a bill regulating the opening of representative offices or branches of foreign Internet companies in Russia.
