Bayreuth (dpa / lby) - In the Bayreuth Clinic, the suspicion of the spread of the corona mutation from Great Britain has been confirmed.

As the clinic reported on Wednesday evening, there are nine confirmed cases of the mutation B.1.1.7.

There are therefore seven patients and two employees.

The hospital had previously determined more than 20 suspected cases.

With a so-called sequencing in laboratories, among others in university hospitals in Regensburg and Munich, the further suspected cases are now to be precisely determined.

It can be expected that these will also be confirmed, reported the Bayreuth hospital.

According to the Upper Franconian clinic, the mutation B.1.1.7 is no more dangerous than the previously known coronavirus, but it is much more contagious.

Depending on the study, the risk of infection should be 50 to 70 percent higher.
