"In the final version, charges have been brought against Sergei Furgal," the message says.

According to the version of the investigation, Furgal organized a criminal group that in 2004-2005 committed the murders of Yevgeny Zori and Oleg Bulatov, as well as the attempted murder of Alexander Smolsky.

Mikhail Karapetyan, one of Furgal's lawyers, told TASS that the former governor had declared no involvement in the final charges against him.

On January 2, the Khabarovsk authorities announced that unauthorized rallies in support of Sergei Furgal had stopped in the city.
