After Paris and Nantes, the city of Toulouse will soon have a street named after Samuel Paty.

The elected officials of the municipal council have indeed decided to call the street located on the Place Saint-Etienne, parallel to the Cathedral, in tribute to the history-geography professor, assassinated on October 16 by an Islamist terrorist not far from his home. Conflans-Sainte-Honorine college.

Two years ago, the town hall had already paid tribute to other victims of terrorism, by baptizing the main path of the Michelet garden with the names of Jonathan Sandler, his sons Gabriel and Arié, as well as that of Myriam Monsonégo, all murdered in Ozar Hatorah School.

In memory of the three soldiers murdered by Mohamed Merah, three alleys of the Niel garden had been renamed: Imad Ibn Ziaten, Abel Chennouf and Mohamed Legouad.

Three other streets named

During the city council on Friday, the elected officials also decided to give to an artery of the Carmelite district, the artery located between the rue du Languedoc and the Place du Parlement will take the name of the lawyer and feminist activist, Gisèle Halimi.

Another tribute to a woman, in the Saint-Cyprien district, the new space to the right of the Viguerie port will take the name of place Raymonde-Fournet, first general nurse at Toulouse hospitals.

As for the square in front of the Abattoirs museum, it will now be called esplanade Daniel Cordier, companion of the Liberation who died last November.
