Neuss (dpa / lnw) - In Neuss, an excavation pit filled with water on Wednesday, and parts of a street sank as a result.

About one square meter is affected, said a fire department spokesman on Wednesday evening.

The road had broken away at the small point.

The excavation was filled with water by rain, which was then undermined and partially destabilized.

The affected area is closed and the responsible construction company and the civil engineering department are alerted.
