Munich / Bamberg (dpa / lby) - No decorations for Valentine's Day, not even the herald of spring: In the pandemic, many shop windows in Bavaria remain unadorned.

"There should actually be hearts everywhere, followed by Easter bunnies and flowers," says Klaus Stieringer from the Federal Association of City and City Marketing Bavaria.

But we have no love in the shop windows now, not even spring. "

Small shops in particular usually make an effort to design their displays according to the season.

But since most shops have closed, customers have not just strolled through the city and lost themselves in shop windows.

«The decoration is not worth it.

There are far too few people in the city. "

Click & Collect - that is, ordering and picking up the goods - is usually just “occupational therapy”, says the chairman of the Bavarian City and City Marketing Association.

The decoration wouldn't change that either.

The windows are often only decorated with posters that refer to the Corona crisis.

If the owners do not get a perspective soon, many shop windows will remain empty forever, the association fears.

"The understanding of the measures taken in the crisis is giving way to resignation," said Stieringer.

"And this resignation manifests itself in a lot - also in the decoration."
