Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - The state of Hesse assumes that the initial vaccinations for those currently entitled to a corona vaccination could be carried out within several weeks.

"Assuming a high willingness to vaccinate within the first prioritization group and the currently planned vaccine quantities, the first vaccinations of this group could take place within the next ten to twelve weeks," said the Ministry of the Interior in Wiesbaden on Tuesday.

The first group particularly includes people over 80.

From (tomorrow) February 3rd, eligible persons can register for a vaccination at the second round of appointments.

In contrast to the first time, when there was an initial limit of 60,000 appointments due to the scarce vaccine, the allocation is now not limited.

"Since the federal government has promised a steady supply of vaccines, everyone in the first prioritization group can now make an appointment."

The doses will then be administered in the 28 vaccination centers across Hesse from February 9th.

Registration is via a telephone hotline or an online portal.

At the first registration round in mid-January, many people had to be patient: There were long waiting times on the hotline, and the online portal was temporarily overloaded.

"Now more server capacities have been added and the system has been subjected to several load tests until the end," the ministry said.

It is also planned that couples can make an appointment together in the future.

At the start of the award on Wednesday, however, this option is not yet available, “but it will be implemented soon”.
