Liverpool, the English Premier League champions, strengthened their defense line on the last day of the transfers, after his troubles increased by losing Joel Matip until the end of the season, to join his injured defense star Virgil Van Dyck.

The club signed the center-back, Ben Davis, 25, from Preston North End of the second division, on Monday, and the Turkish international defender Ozan Kabak, 20, on loan from Schalke, was signed by the Turkish international.

JĂĽrgen Klopp admires the "big personality" that Ozan Kabak is expected to bring to Liverpool after joining the team.

Liverpool missed two defenders Van Dyck and Gomez for a long time due to injury, and suffered a fresh blow by Cameroonian Matip's ankle ligaments during the 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Coach Juergen Klopp said, "Unfortunately, we have now discovered, after everyone checked the injury, that Joel will miss until the end of the season."

"But he will be ready for the start of the pre-season period, and finally everything will be resolved," he added.

JĂĽrgen Klopp has confirmed that Joel Matip will miss the remainder of the 2020-21 season due to an ankle ligament injury.

Klopp was forced to include midfielders Fabinho and Jordan Henderson as the center of defense in many games this season, as well as relying on some young players to fill gaps in defense.

Liverpool brought Henderson and Nathaniel Phillips, 23, into the center of defense during their 3-1 win at West Ham United on Sunday, a result that propelled them to third place.

British media reports said Liverpool will pay Preston about 2 million pounds ($ 2.74 million) for the services of Davis, who will be tied to a long-term contract at Anfield.

"It is a tremendous opportunity. It was definitely a surprise, but as soon as I recovered from the shock, I realized that the opportunity before me was amazing," Davis said in a statement.

"I would be naive if I did not take this opportunity to learn from the players (at Liverpool)," he added.

"I have never gone to Anfield. I glance at the stadium and it looks great as I expected."

Completion of the Capac loan deal is contingent upon obtaining the international playing card.

The Turkish defender was nominated to Klopp by former Schalke coach David Wagner.

Kabak played 7 international matches with the national team, and joined Schalke 04 in 2019 from Stuttgart.

Klopp said, "He is a really great talent and we very much look forward to working with him."
