While a study shows a certain "erosion" of home work, which has lasted since the start of the epidemic for some, the government called on Tuesday, employers and employees to "re-mobilize" to strengthen teleworking in the companies.

There is a form of "erosion of telework" against which "it is absolutely necessary to mobilize again", declared Tuesday the Minister of Labor Élisabeth Borne, on the sidelines of a trip to Béthune (Pas-de-Calais).

The services of the ministry will mobilize to "advise companies" and "if necessary sanction", she specified.

More and more employees are returning to the office

The minister also called for “social dialogue” in companies, which will allow “account to be taken of the difficulties that some employees may encounter.

“Elisabeth Borne had already launched this call for mobilization Monday evening, during a weekly videoconference with the social partners.

A study conducted by Harris Interactive for the ministry shows a 100% erosion of teleworking, the ministry said.

According to this survey, among workers who can telecommute easily, 36% did not telecommute the week of January 18 to 24, compared to 30% the week of November 2 to 8.

And the share of those teleworking 100% rose from 45% in November to 30% in January.

Only one per week in face-to-face if necessary

Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Friday that "in all companies where it is possible, the use of telework will be (it) reinforced".

But the Ministry of Labor had immediately clarified that the rule on teleworking remained unchanged in the health protocol governing life in companies updated Friday.

This provides for teleworking to be "the rule for all activities that allow it" with, for "100% teleworking employees, a face-to-face return (...) possible one day a week at most when express the need ”.

The minister, who exchanged Monday by videoconference with the Direccte (regional directorates for companies, competition, consumption, labor and employment), called on them to be vigilant, inviting labor inspectors to sanction the companies “if we realize that there are abuses”.

During Monday's meeting, the unions called for the swift opening in companies of negotiations on the subject.

“The best way to do this is through social dialogue.

We need a rapid convening of the CSE ”(social and economic committees), declared Cyril Chabanier, president of the CFTC.
