Munich (dpa / lby) - After the avian influenza spreads in Bavaria, other districts are taking measures to contain it.

The district offices of Schwandorf, Deggendorf, Lichtenfels, Haßberge and Neuburg-Schrobenhausen issued general decrees on Tuesday, which include strict hygiene regulations and a feeding ban for wild birds.

Most recently there have been cases of avian influenza in the districts of Starnberg, Passau, Bayreuth and Haßberge.

The districts of Bamberg, Bayreuth, Dingolfing-Landau and Straubing-Bogen have also issued general decrees.

In the Bayreuth district there is also an obligation to stables.

The infectious disease occurs mainly in water birds, it is considered harmless for humans.

The highest incidence and death rates are observed in chickens and turkeys - in some cases up to 100 percent.

Avian influenza is a notifiable animal disease and is therefore controlled by the state.
