01 February 2021 "These figures are not surprising and unfortunately highlight an increasingly imminent risk: if the redundancy block is not extended in the spring, we will be facing a real social bomb".

"Women, young people, self-employed workers - says the union leader - have already paid a very high price, destined to rise if extraordinary and innovative tools are not put in place to govern the transition phase that will be determined by the long wave of the crisis".

For this reason, continues Scacchetti, "we ask for an immediate reform of the social protection system. We must relaunch the defensive solidarity contract and - he stresses - create a universal system of income support that leaves no one behind, starting with workers with precarious contracts and discontinuous ".

In addition, the confederal secretary continues, "the extension of the redundancy block serves to guarantee the conditions for identifying jointly solutions and interventions capable of avoiding a social impact that risks being dramatic".

Finally, "as we also proposed in the hearings on the Recovery Plan, we need an extraordinary investment plan whose main objective is the creation of new jobs. We cannot build the recovery on the rubble of work", concludes Scacchetti.

"If a worker, in addition to the fear of getting sick, also has to face dismissal, it is obvious that he no longer holds up the country and we will have absurd social conflicts" says in turn the general secretary of the CISL , Annamaria Furlan.
