It all started with a call from an Islamic State emir on Telegram encrypted messaging.
"
We want four Kalash
" writes a certain "Sayyaf".
The undercover agent of
the DSGI
, who
calls
himself Ulysses on the internet, seizes the opportunity and poses as a petty arms dealer.
A few months later, Sayyaf announces to Ulysses that 13,300 euros were hidden in the cemetery of Montparnasse.
In response, four unusable Kalashnikovs were dropped off in a forest in the Paris suburbs by the police.
The DGSI agent sends the coordinates to Sayyaf.
But for several months, the weapons remain buried.
Three people arrested
Finally, in November 2016 three people were arrested in France.
They are suspected of having wanted to commit an attack.
On a USB key belonging to one of the suspects, the police found the coordinates of the arms cache sent by the DGSI agent.
Behind the pseudo “Sayyaf” was in fact hiding Salah Eddine Gourmat, a Frenchman who left to fight in Syria in March 2014.
It is the alleged sponsor of this attack plan which will also be shot down a few weeks later in an American strike.
For the prosecution, "
there is no doubt about the purpose of the operation which consisted in committing a massacre on French soil
".
