“It is more reasonable to trade with Russia than not to trade, but this was Ukraine's choice to refuse to trade with us, it was not our decision.

Despite the drop in trade turnover, Russia still remains among the three largest trading partners of Ukraine.

We sell coal, why it is possible to buy coal from Russia, why it is possible to provide Russia with gas transportation services, why it is possible to provide Russia with services for the transport of, say, ammonia, and at the same time why it is impossible to buy electricity from Russia, this is rather strange, ”noted Mitrakhovich.

Commenting on Ukraine's plan to disconnect from the unified energy system with Belarus and Russia and unite with the European one, the expert added that they have been talking about this for a long time, but it remained unfulfilled.

“Just to start doing this, we also need money for this infrastructure work.

Let's say that in recent years this money has not yet been found in Ukraine.

If this work is carried out at the expense of, for example, energy companies, then the energy companies, of course, will want to take back this money from consumers.

That is, Ukrainian companies will then try to increase the prices at which they are ready to sell electricity ... Therefore, the increase in the costs of energy companies will be passed on to the shoulders of end users, ”the specialist concluded.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine resumed importing electricity from Russia.

This is evidenced by the data published on the website of the company "Ukrenergo".

At the end of January, the Rada's Committee on Energy Issues supported a bill banning the supply of electricity from Russia and Belarus.
