Yesterday evening, Sunday, Palestinian resistance fighters took control of an Israeli drone near the Beit Hanoun crossing in the northern Gaza Strip.

Palestinian sources told Al-Jazeera that the resistance took control of the drone, which is of a small size, after it fell in an area near the perimeter of the crossing.

The sources did not mention any additional details about the armed faction that took control of the plane, and whether it was down due to a technical defect or was shot down.

In turn, the spokesman for the occupation army announced, on Sunday evening, the loss of a small photographic plane over the atmosphere of the besieged Gaza Strip.

"The plane fell in the Gaza Strip. There is no fear of information leakage," the military spokesman said.

On the other hand, the Hebrew website Walla reported that the last year witnessed the fall of many small planes in the Strip.

The occupation army usually uses drones to collect intelligence information from the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian factions have succeeded in toppling many of them during the past years, the most recent of which was last August, when the "Mujahideen Movement" announced that a "QuadCopter" march was dropped, east of Gaza City, after being shot at.

In recent months, the Israeli army announced the downing of several drones in separate incidents over the Strip.
