Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein's Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) also expects a limited number of deliveries of the Covid 19 vaccines in the coming weeks.

Top representatives of the pharmaceutical companies had for the second quarter and the further course of the year, however, a significant expansion of deliveries in prospect, said Günther on Monday evening in Kiel after a top-level meeting with the federal and state governments on vaccination.

Additional production capacities should be built up.

The federal government, the EU and pharmaceutical companies are working flat out to expand the production of vaccines, said Günther.

He assured the federal government of all support in efforts to accelerate the supply of vaccines.

Günther welcomed the willingness of the vaccine manufacturers to cooperate.

The federal government, states, suppliers and companies pulled out all the stops to solve the remaining problems.

The CDU politician pointed out that specific delivery dates and quantities of Covid-19 vaccines depend on numerous factors.

This included the course of the clinical trials, the result of the official approval procedures as well as the production processes, the supply chains and the results of the quality controls.

"That is why precise forecasts about deliveries of vaccines are always fraught with uncertainty and changes are not unusual," said Günther.

As part of the national vaccination strategy, vaccination planning is now being modeled on the basis of the capacities presented by the companies.
