Accused of rape, the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin denounced Monday on France Inter of “false leaks” in the media of elements of the investigation and assured that a confrontation with the complainant had been “refused”.

"I myself asked for the confrontation that I am being refused, it's still very surprising," said Gerald Darmanin.

"We prefer to make false leaks, all that is largely arranged," he added.

Last week, Mediapart published an article which contained elements of his hearing with the judges on December 14.

Hearing at the end of which he was placed under the status of assisted witness.

"Calumny also eats away at the honor of women and men"

Gérald Darmanin is accused by Ms. Patterson-Spatz of rape, sexual harassment and breach of trust.

The investigation was closed on two occasions between 2017 and 2018, and an examining magistrate refused to investigate the subject.

After two years of procedural battle, another investigating judge has been in charge of investigations since this summer.

"The absolute, total violation of the secrecy of the investigation, obviously no longer surprises anyone", continued the minister.

Seeing in the rankings without follow-up to previous complaints, "favorable decisions which have been given to me", he expressed "his disgust" at the "slander" and "ignominy" which "continue", "in obscene conditions ”.

"When we do politics, we must expect this kind of extremely low attacks," he said.

"Acts against women, sexual violence are an evil that gnaw at society, slander also erodes the honor of women and men a lot."
