Tribsees (dpa / mv) - At the major construction site of the A20 near Tribsees, work on the transitions from the new roadway to the existing motorway began on Monday.

For this purpose, the lane in the direction of Lübeck was initially closed.

There were no major traffic jams, according to the employees of the Autobahn GmbH.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the A 20 between the Tribsees and Bad Sülze junctions will then be fully closed before the Lübeck lane is closed again on Thursday.

As the Autobahn GmbH announced, the A 20 will be lowered in the course of the work in the initial western area of the Trebel valley.

Due to the different heights of the new and the existing carriageway, this is necessary to maintain traffic.

At the same time, maintenance work on the temporary bridge is necessary.

The A20 had sagged and collapsed near Tribsees in autumn 2018.

Pictures of it went around the world.

There is still no definite clarity about the cause of the collapse.

Since December 2018, traffic has been rolling over a temporary bridge.
