Berlin (dpa / bb) - After the evacuation of 18 houses in Berlin-Köpenick, the residents stayed with friends, acquaintances and in two hotels.

A spokeswoman for the Treptow-Köpenick district office said on Monday about a return.

After an excavation pit was full of water on Sunday and a house next to it in Pohlestrasse threatened to sag, the residents had to get out.

According to the police, gas, water, electricity and heat were also turned off in 17 other houses.

These residents could no longer stay there either.

The district office goes from Baupfusch at the full pit, said the spokeswoman.

"The reason was the improper execution of a construction site."

According to the police, the house next to the pit threatened to sag on Sunday afternoon and break off a gable wall.

The technical relief organization had announced that the security work for the house was difficult.
