Nuremberg (dpa) - The trial of a 33-year-old man began on Monday at the Nuremberg-Fürth regional court, who pushed another man in a dispute in front of an incoming subway.

The public prosecutor's office accuses him of attempted manslaughter.

The defendant admitted the act in full at the beginning of the trial and apologized to the victim.

In the incident on Christmas Eve 2019 at Nuremberg Central Station, the injured party was trapped under the approaching train and dragged along by it.

He suffered numerous broken bones and other injuries and had to undergo several operations.

The motive for the act remained unclear on the first day of the trial before the jury chamber of the regional court.

Both parties accused each other of having insulted the other.

Both had known each other according to the information only briefly.

The court set a total of five days for the proceedings.
