American leader Joe Biden withdrew a proposal by former President Donald Trump to cut a number of budget spending items.

This is stated in Biden's letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Vice President and Senate Speaker Kamala Harris.

The content of the document was published on the White House website.

“Pursuant to Section 1014 (c) of the Budget Expenditure and Congressional Control Act 1974 (2 USC 685 (c)) I withdraw 73 spending cuts previously submitted to Congress ", The letter says.

As noted earlier by the American media, the administration of the 45th head of the White House sent a proposal for consideration by the Congress in mid-January.

It was about savings in the amount of $ 27.4 billion in the framework of the so-called request to cancel budget items, including by reducing the cost of providing military assistance to foreign states, economic support to countries around the world, as well as programs supposedly promoting democracy in the world.

"Securing United States Leadership"

Andrei Sidorov, head of the Department of International Organizations and World Political Processes at the Faculty of World Politics at Moscow State University, noted that Biden's recall of Trump's proposals to reduce dozens of budget spending items speaks of the new American leader's intention to "provide the United States with privileged positions in the world."

“Donald Trump has tried to reduce US foreign policy spending in order to improve domestic affairs.

Trump believed that this burden for the United States was too heavy and therefore it was necessary to focus on your country, to equip it, and to cancel unnecessary spending.

However, Biden is likely to continue the traditional course of the Democratic Party, designed to ensure the leadership of the United States in the world, which, according to the Democrats, was lost during the Trump administration, "the expert said in a conversation with RT.

He also added that the main instruments for ensuring the influence of the United States - "these are exactly the items, the costs of which were proposed to be reduced."

According to Sidorov, Biden will allocate significant funds, including to support Ukraine.

“Washington can increase military assistance to Kiev, as well as send it lethal weapons.

I believe that Biden intends to pursue an anti-Russian policy.

And Ukraine in this aspect is important for him, ”the analyst said.

Meanwhile, political analyst Alexander Asafov believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has already voiced a request for American assistance.

“In an interview with Western media, he expressed hope for the beginning of a new stage in relations between Kiev and Washington and asked Biden to help Ukraine.

This statement speaks very vividly of Kiev's hopes for a reset of relations with the American side, as well as for financial, political and military assistance, "Asafov said in an interview with RT.

Sidorov believes that in addition to Ukraine, Washington will also "heavily finance" the states of Southeast Asia, including Thailand and Vietnam.

“The United States will not disregard South Korea and Japan, of course, they will provide military assistance to Latin American states such as Colombia.

In addition, funds will be allocated to other countries of the former USSR, including Georgia, ”the expert explained.

Anti-Trump

Biden's withdrawal of Trump's proposals to cut a number of budget expenditures is not the only measure aimed at annulling the decisions of the 45th US president.

In his first day as head of state alone, Biden signed 15 decrees, about half of which are in one way or another related to the revision of the political course pursued by Trump.

Thus, the United States will not withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Trump made the decision to sever ties with this structure last May, citing WHO's unsatisfactory work in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden also brought the United States back into compliance with the Paris Climate Agreement.

In the summer of 2017, the US State Department announced Washington's plans to leave the treaty.

As Trump explained then, the terms of the document were allegedly unfavorable for Americans and business in the United States.

Last fall, the United States completed its withdrawal procedure.

Another Biden decree calls for the lifting of the ban on entry into the United States of citizens of a number of states with a predominantly Muslim population.

In January 2017, Trump signed a decree "On protecting the country from the entry of foreign terrorists", which restricts the entry into the country of citizens of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, Libya and Somalia.

Later, Iraq and Sudan were excluded from the blacklist, but the DPRK and Chad were added.

In addition, the state of emergency was canceled by Biden due to the situation on the border between the USA and Mexico.

The American leader has also stopped federal funding for the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico.

Last year, Trump extended the state of emergency there for 12 months to stop illegal migrants from entering the United States.

It is also worth noting that the new Biden administration has extended the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START III) with the Russian side.

While Trump was in power, the American side put forward new conditions for the prolongation of the agreement and did not announce the final decision regarding the fate of START III.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the new US administration is also reviewing relations with China.

"Does the opposite"

According to Andrei Sidorov, Biden "defiantly reverses Trump's decisions and rejects his proposals to show that he is not like the 45th US president."

“The new American leader deliberately does the opposite, trying to annul the legacy of the former head of the White House.

Biden wants to become a sort of anti-Trump, ”the expert said.

Sidorov also noted that despite Biden's attempts to isolate himself from the legacy of Barack Obama, while many decisions of the new leader speak of his intentions to follow the course of the 44th US President.

“He wants to do everything the way it was before Trump.

Democrats have repeatedly called the period of the 45th head of the White House as a dark spot in the history of the United States.

However, the leadership that the new administration wants so badly has to be paid for, ”the analyst emphasized.

As Asafov noted, Trump has repeatedly said that "Americans should stop acting on external political landscapes and focus on their country," while Biden sees it differently.

“Biden, due to his experience in the Obama administration, has different views on this matter.

It is now quite clear that the United States is returning or trying to return to a policy of expanding its influence.

And for this they will allocate even more money.

The items of expenditure within the framework of the export of so-called democracy will also increase many times over, ”the analyst concluded.
