Bremen (AP) - Werder Bremen brings goalkeeper Michael Zetterer from the Dutch first division club PEC Zwolle back to the Weser.

The loan agreement for the 25-year-old will be terminated with immediate effect, the Bundesliga club announced on Saturday evening.

Zetterer is expected in Bremen on Sunday, but has to go into quarantine for five days due to the current corona conditions.

The goalkeeper is therefore not yet available for the round of 16 in the DFB Cup against second division team Greuther Fürth on Tuesday.

Zetterer takes on the role of substitute goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino, who moved to the second division club SV Sandhausen.

He was loaned to Zwolle in the summer of 2019 and was used a total of 32 times in the Dutch honor division.

"We are very satisfied with the development of Zetti," said Bremen's sports director Frank Baumann and announced that the contract with Zetterer had been extended.

Werder did not provide any information about the duration.

Jiri Pavlenka remains the regular goalkeeper at Bremen.

On the other hand, Bremen will leave Tahith Chong.

The 21-year-old attacker was loaned from Manchester United in the summer of 2020, but could not prevail in the Bundesliga.

Both clubs therefore agreed to end the loan deal prematurely for Chong, who was still part of the squad in the 1-1 draw against FC Schalke 04 on Saturday.

The Dutchman is now on loan to Club Brugge in Belgium.
