Potsdam (dpa / bb) - More reliability in vaccine deliveries and thus better predictability: Before the federal and state vaccination summit this Monday, the expectations in Brandenburg of the top meeting are high.

Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) called for a nationwide strategy for vaccination.

"We need a national vaccination plan with reliable information on vaccine deliveries," said Woidke on Sunday the German press agency.

Fast vaccination protection is a prerequisite for permanent openings in all areas of public life.

Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) called on the federal government to quickly deliver the Astrazeneca vaccine to the federal states.

"It is now very important that the new vaccine is delivered immediately," said Nonnemacher on Saturday.

The approval of a further effective vaccine is the chance to rapidly alleviate the current serious shortage of doses.

That is why reliable delivery commitments are necessary.

In view of considerable criticism of the slow start of vaccination and the production problems at some manufacturers, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) wants to discuss the situation on Monday.

The prime ministers of the federal states, several federal ministers, vaccine manufacturers and representatives of the EU Commission, who buys vaccines from various manufacturers for the entire EU, are to take part in a video conference.

The meeting was suggested by Woidke.

"We need clarity, transparency and reliability," he said of his initiative.

On Saturday, the federal and state health ministers discussed, among other things, vaccine deliveries.

Brandenburg's Minister of Health also took part in the switch.

Woidke and Nonnemacher expect “concrete results” from the vaccination summit on Monday, such as clear statements on the amount and time of vaccination deliveries.

«We have ramped up the logistics with the mobile teams and the vaccination centers.

Now the engine stutters because the vaccine is missing », criticized Woidke.

“We have fulfilled our mandate and in a short time created the necessary vaccination capacities to be able to vaccinate a large number of people quickly.

What is missing are the vaccination doses, ”said the Minister.

The federal government and the EU are responsible for procurement.

She expects reliable and punctual deliveries from the manufacturing companies in particular.

Following the recommendation of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the EU Commission granted approval for the corona vaccine from the manufacturer Astrazeneca on Friday.

The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) at the Robert Koch Institute recommends the vaccine only for people between the ages of 18 and 64, as there is not yet sufficient data to assess its effectiveness from the age of 65.

In view of the shortage of vaccines, priority must be given on the basis of the Standing Vaccination Commission and the Federal Vaccination Ordinance, said Nonnemacher.

Since the Astrazeneca vaccine was not yet recommended for older people, the professional groups with the highest priority now came into focus.

These are nurses in outpatient and inpatient care for the elderly as well as staff in medical facilities.

The minister expressed understanding for the justified demands for a quick vaccination from other endangered professional groups, such as police and law enforcement officers, fire fighters, teachers and educators.

So far, 86 804 corona vaccinations have been carried out in Brandenburg (as of January 30), including 73 844 first vaccinations and 12 960 people who received a second vaccination.

This means that the state is currently in the upper middle field in the federal state ranking.

16,268 residents of the 341 inpatient nursing homes in the country have already been vaccinated for the first time - that is 60 percent according to the Ministry of Health (as of Saturday).

754 senior citizens in the facilities received a second vaccination.

“Brandenburg has picked up speed with vaccination.

The speed depends on the deliveries, »said Ministry spokesman Gabriel Hesse.

According to the Ministry of Health, another delivery of the vaccine Moderna has now arrived in Brandenburg with 2,400 doses.

So far, the country has received a total of 4,800 vaccine doses from the manufacturer.

The vaccination centers in Brandenburg an der Havel, Eberswalde (Barnim) and Prenzlau (Uckermark) are supplied with this vaccine.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, two more vaccination centers will start in Luckenwalde (Teltow-Fläming) and Kyritz (Ostprignitz-Ruppin) that will also use this vaccine.

In the Moderna vaccination centers, up to 85 vaccinations are to be administered per day.

The Ministry also expects the next delivery of 23,400 vaccine doses from Biontech / Pfizer by next Tuesday.

So far, the country has received 99 450 vaccine doses from this manufacturer.
