Marie was sitting on Monday night watching the news with her mother when she heard a thump on the balcony.
At first she did not react much to it.
- When none of my dogs reacted, I thought I heard in sight and did not think about it anymore, says Marie.
"Someone on the balcony"
But Marie did not hear in sight.
Suddenly her mother pointed to the balcony door and exclaimed "there is someone on the balcony".
- Then a guy is standing there knocking on the balcony door and wants me to let him in.
I got pissed and tried to chase him away.
The man disappeared and at the same moment Marie saw out of the corner of her eye how two policemen were standing with drawn weapons at the other end of her balcony.
- Then I thought;
"What is this, a bad movie?"
Marie and her mother went out into the hall and when they opened the front door, the stairwell, according to Marie, was also filled with police.
- Behind the door there is a policeman on the floor with a weapon drawn towards me who whispers "down down".
Arrested the same evening
The man on the balcony was arrested the same evening and arrested for a serious gun crime and a serious illegal threat.
- We were called there because people saw him carrying a weapon, says Robert Loeffel, the police's press spokesperson.
The preliminary investigation has now been closed as, according to Robert Loeffel, it is not possible to investigate the crime as, among other things, no weapon has been found.
The man is set free and no suspicions remain.
The police "most likely"
Robert Loeffel himself was not present during the operation and can therefore not confirm exactly what happened.
But he explains that it is not uncommon for police officers to carry weapons on civilians' balconies on occasions like this.
- It is highly likely that it was so.
If we have such information, we increase our preparedness.
The perpetrator fled from the police and was seen as a potential threat, he says.
