Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - After his election as CDU chairman, Prime Minister Armin Laschet gained support in North Rhine-Westphalia, according to a survey.

In the NRW trend of the television magazine “Westpol”, 60 percent of those surveyed said they were satisfied with Laschet's work, the WDR announced on Sunday.

That is 8 percentage points more than last September.

When it comes to the question of who would be a good candidate for chancellor for the Union in the Bundestag election in September, the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) is ahead of Laschet.

According to the survey, 56 percent of respondents consider Söder to be a good candidate for chancellor, while Laschet only has 47 percent.

Söder also does better with the Union supporters with 74 percent than Laschet with 64 percent.

If a new state parliament were to be elected on this Sunday in North Rhine-Westphalia, the CDU would come to 37 percent according to the survey and would thus receive 3 percentage points more than in September 2020. Your coalition partner FDP could easily improve to 8 percent (plus 1 percentage point).

With 24 percent (plus 2), the Greens achieve the best value measured for them in the NRW trend.

The SPD is losing significantly (minus 4) compared to September and is 17 percent, which is a new low in the NRW trend.

The AfD comes to 6 percent (minus 1).

With 3 percent (minus 1), the left would clearly miss out on entering parliament.
