Fans of the Indomitable Lions expected no less, for the first time that a Cameroonian selection had the opportunity to play an official match in the brand new Japoma stadium.

In this African Nations Championship contested at home, any result other than victory would have been experienced as a real tragedy.

And if we had to take into account only one clue, on the enthusiasm aroused by this match among the public in Douala, it is undoubtedly the speed with which the 12,500 tickets, corresponding to the gauge of 25% of the capacity of the stadium, got torn off.

If the victory against the opponent of the day was a real relief, it did not however lead to any particular euphoria.

The fault, undoubtedly, with the atmosphere of suspicion, accusation of manipulation of Covid test, formulated by the Congolese party against Cameroon.

Some, including some of the most die-hard fans of the Indomitable Lions, wondering if there was really any intention to cheat or at least to destabilize the opponent of the day.

But while waiting to see more clearly, the Cameroonians are delighted to continue the journey in their tournament.

They now only dream of one thing: the final trophy.
