The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has directed the allocation of a financial grant to the Gaza Strip in the amount of 360 million dollars, to be spent over a whole year, starting from January 2021.

The Qatar News Agency reported that this grant comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's continued support for the brotherly Palestinian people besieged in the Gaza Strip.

She explained that this amount will be used to pay employees' salaries, provide financial aid to needy families, and operate power stations, to reduce the aggravation of the humanitarian situation and difficult living conditions in the Gaza Strip.

Anadolu Agency quoted a Palestinian source as saying that the head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, Muhammad Al-Emadi, arrives in the Gaza Strip this evening, Sunday, carrying the first installment of the grant, estimated at 30 million dollars.

This committee of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs implements dozens of vital and important projects in the sector, in addition to distributing monthly financial aid earmarked for the poor.

In turn, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, considered that "the Qatari grant is an extension of Doha's original stances in easing the siege of the Gaza Strip and supporting the Palestinian people in general."

Haniyeh added in a statement that this support demonstrates the deep ties between the Palestinian and Qatari peoples.

He expressed his thanks to the Emir of Qatar and his role in supporting the Palestinians in their various places of residence.
