The public prosecutor of Valence, Alex Perrin announced on Saturday January 30 the indictment of Gabriel Fortin.

This 45-year-old unemployed engineer is accused of "assassinations" in the investigation into the double murder, Thursday in Drôme and Ardèche, of an employee of a Pôle Emploi agency and the HRD of a company from which he had been dismissed.

Alex Perrin said the suspect was silent and had been jailed.

"Single without children, unemployed engineer and unknown to the judicial and intelligence services", Gabriel Fortin killed on Thursday an employee of the Pôle Emploi agency in Valence, from which he had been struck off in 2013. "Nothing establishes in the state he knew her, "the prosecutor said in a statement.

He subsequently killed the HRD of the Faun company, in the neighboring town of Guilherand-Granges (Ardèche), where he had been employed between 2008 and 2010, as an engineer, before being dismissed.

He had known the HRD during his period of activity within the company, according to the public prosecutor of Valencia.

"The premeditation on the two facts is perfectly proven", according to him.

Gabriel Fortin was subsequently arrested at the wheel of his car, a search of which led to "the discovery of a second handgun and multiple 9 mm cartridges", he continued.

Aggression in the Haut-Rhin

However, the prosecutor did not confirm the link between this double assassination and a murder, as well as an assault in the Haut-Rhin at the beginning of the week, but indicated that this "possibility" was being examined.

Friday a source close to the file had confirmed this link to AFP.

On Tuesday, another HRD was indeed shot dead in the parking lot of his company in Wolfgantzen (Haut-Rhin).

This homicide was followed by the assault of a man also working in human resources, attacked at his home in Wattwiller, in the same department.

His attacker, who missed him, fled in a car of the same color - red - as the one used by Gabriel Fortin.

According to the Alsatian press, these two people are linked to a social plan that affected, in the 2000s, a company in Eure-et-Loir of which the suspect from Valence was an employee at the time.

The indicted, remained silent during his custody, "did not wish to express himself further" during his removal.

The judicial information will be directed by two investigating judges because of "the extreme gravity of the facts committed and the extent of the investigations to be carried out", according to the prosecutor.
