The 22nd day of Ligue 1 was marked by the anger of the supporters, with incidents in Marseille leading to the postponement of OM-Rennes, while Montpellier continued to sink, losing at home to Lens in the only match played on Saturday (2-1).

New jump in the hectic season of OM, and this time it is not due to the Covid-19 pandemic: at the beginning of the afternoon, several hundred angry supporters carried out a coup in the center Marseille training, at La Commanderie.

25 people were arrested, according to the police, after throwing firecrackers, smoke and the intrusion of some fans in the enclosure.

The situation led the Professional Football League (LFP) to postpone the meeting in an emergency.

Three hours before the kick-off of a crucial match for the men of André Villas-Boas, beaten in the last three Championship matches and only 6th in the standings, 14 points behind the Lyon leader who won in extremis over Bordeaux on Friday night (2-1).

OM is therefore now two matches behind, including the one against Nice, postponed due to Covid-19 and rescheduled for February 17.

The meeting against Rennes, another contender for European places, has not yet been rescheduled.

Marseille fans were not the only ones to express their dissatisfaction on Saturday.

In Saint-Etienne, the two main groups of supporters invaded the Robert-Herbin technical center in order to meet with the players in full training, without incident according to the daily La Tribune-Le Progrès.

The Greens are in a dramatic sporting situation, with a 16th place in the standings and only four points ahead of the relegation.

The rout (5-0) in the derby against Lyon last week only made the situation worse.

The complaints of the fans are addressed to the players, but also and especially to the management and in particular to the two shareholders, Bernard Caïazzo and Roland Romeyer, whom they call on to leave the club.

"The supporters accumulate a lot of frustration, I understand what they feel. It is legitimate to hear them and listen to them", had already commented the general manager Claude Puel on Friday at a press conference, while ASSE is moving in Nice on Sunday.

- Montpellier in free fall -

In Montpellier, fans made themselves heard before the reception of Lens on Saturday afternoon, waving smoke on the arrival of the team's bus in particular, but it was essentially a message of support for the men of Michel Der Zakarian, caught in a negative spiral of results.

This was not enough to restore confidence to the players, beaten for the sixth time in eight Ligue 1 games (for two draws).

Lens shone thanks to Gaël Kakuta and Cheick Doucouré, scorers, but also thanks to goalkeeper Jean-Louis Leca, decisive.

Only the young Elye Wahi, 18, restored the image of the MHSC with his second goal in Ligue 1, marked with a sumptuous return.

The tumble therefore continues for the Montpellier residents, 11th with only 28 points, while the assurance of maintenance is approaching for the promoted Lensois, new 6th in the Championship with 34 units.

The pressure could fall on Sunday, with seven games on the program and a challenge for Paris SG (45 points) in Lorient (3:00 p.m.): take back control of the standings.

With so many units, Lille, 3rd, will want to remain in ambush against Dijon (5:00 p.m.).

At the end of the evening (9:00 p.m.), Nantes (17th) will try to win its first success under Raymond Domenech, but against Monaco (4th) which remains on four victories in a row, the task promises to be difficult.

And the fans of the Canaries, already scalded by the decisions of the leaders, could also want to be heard ...
