The vaccination campaign against the Corona virus was launched in Algeria today, Saturday, and official TV broadcast pictures of the first vaccination process against the virus for a medical staff member in Blida, south of the capital, which was the first focus of the pandemic in the country.

The director of health in the state also received the vaccination as the first government official to receive the vaccine, in the presence of the Minister of Health Abdel-Rahman bin Bouzid, who said that choosing Blida as a start was symbolic as it was the first focus of the pandemic in the country, and the first area on which quarantine and curfew were imposed.

The minister - who supervised the vaccination process - added that the priority will be for health sector users, then for the elderly and those with chronic diseases, indicating that a doctor in the obstetrics department was the first to receive the vaccine today.

For his part, Jamal Furar, head of the Scientific Committee for Monitoring the Coronavirus, stated that vaccination will continue for months, targeting about 80% of citizens.
