Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeti), Vice Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, arrived in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Saturday, on an official visit to the country.

Upon his arrival at Doha International Airport, he and the accompanying delegation were received by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, the Qatari ambassador to Khartoum Abdul Rahman bin Ali Al-Kubaisi, and the Chargé d'Affairs at the Sudanese embassy, ​​Salwa Awad Bashir.

The Sudanese delegation’s visit comes to Doha to discuss bilateral relations and issues of common concern at the regional and international levels.

In a tweet on Twitter, Hemedti said that his visit to Doha confirms the depth of the relationship between the two countries.

He added, "Today, I go to the sisterly State of Qatar, with which we share the bonds of brotherhood, mutual respect and common interests."

He stated that Foreign Minister Omar Qamar al-Din and Director of the General Intelligence Service, Jamal Abdul Majeed, would accompany him during the visit, without giving more details about it.

This is the first visit by a high-ranking Sudanese official since the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11, 2019.
