  According to the country’s police, on January 19, a police patrol boat detained two Chinese ships-"Donggangxing 13" and "Donggangxing 16" near Chiu Island in the northern waters of Vanuatu.

  According to reports, these vessels are currently anchored in Port Vila, Vanuatu, and 14 Chinese citizens are under COVID-19 quarantine and are being questioned for suspected "illegal fishing."

  Vanuatu police said that the patrol team also found a Russian yacht near the city of Luganville when sending a Chinese fishing boat to Port Vila.

Three Russian citizens on board were detained.

They will also be questioned on the reasons for their presence in the waters.
