Husum (dpa / lno) - The clinics in Husum and Niebüll affected by a corona outbreak are gradually returning to normal operation.

The Niebüll Clinic will be fully available again from 6 a.m. on Sunday (January 31), announced the North Friesland district on Saturday evening.

The hospital in Husum opens on Monday at 6 a.m. for emergencies and obstetrics.

According to the information, the medical care centers with specialist practices at both locations will also start operating again.

Previously there was a two-week occupancy freeze.

The coronavirus had been detected in a total of 200 patients and employees.

The cause of the outbreak has so far been unclear "despite an intensive search and extensive follow-up", it said.

Patients whose scheduled treatments have recently been postponed are called to make new appointments.

In the third series of tests of all employees on Thursday and Friday, nobody in Niebüll tested positive for the corona virus, it said.

In Husum there were three new positive findings, but it is assumed that there was an infection outside the hospital.

"We are all very relieved that we can offer our population the usual emergency care in a first step and that our ambulance service can now reach the nearest emergency room more quickly," said District Administrator Florian Lorenzen.

The additional measures would have had an effect.

All employees of the clinic are regularly tested for corona.

First of all, old and new patients in Husum would be cared for in different rooms and by separate treatment teams, it said.

The department for hospital hygiene at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, with which the hospital has been working closely for years, will also review the hygiene concept on site in the coming days.
