Manu Ayerdi
has presented his resignation as
Minister of Economic Development of Navarra
to President
María Chivite
for his indictment by the Supreme Court in
two alleged crimes of prevarication and embezzlement of public funds
.
The Supreme Court had decided his status as 'investigated' on December 15, but Aierdi and Chivite were reluctant to apply the
Navarran law of 2018 that forces their political positions to resign when charged.
A rule, promoted by Ayerdi but also supported by UPN and that now turns against who was president of the PNV in Navarra.
Five Supreme Court judges confirmed their alleged responsibility in the
Irregular granting of grants of up to 2.6 million euros to the Davalor Salud company
in 2015 and 2017.
Manu Ayerdi was until this morning the advisor imposed by the PNV in the governments of Uxue Barkos (Geroa Bai) and María Chivite (UPN) formed to distance UPN from the provincial government.
Ayerdi grew politically in the last legislature of Yolanda Barcina (UPN) (2011-015) in which she had a singular role in leading the parliamentary investigation against the then counselor
Lourdes Goicoechea
for her alleged "interference" in the Treasury Department. Goicoechea demonstrated his innocence for which Ayerdi is, at the moment, the first Navarrese adviser investigated by the Supreme Court.
Ayerdi, with a moderate public profile, easily managed in 2015 to get EH Bildu to support the first government of nationalist parties and Podemos in the history of Navarra.

automatic dismissal of the directors who are imputed by any court

UPN, the most voted political force in the Navarrese Parliament, approved this regulation that the Government of Barkos intended to use against Esparza's party.
The accusation of Ayerdi was approved by the
Supreme Court on December 15
in a car and UPN, chaired by Javier Esparza, demanded the automatic exclusion of one of the councilors of the hard core of President Chivite, as stated in the aforementioned Government regulation navarrro.
But both Chivite and Ayerdi himself clung to the fact that
the formal notification
of the Supreme Court's decision to keep him in his post
had not yet taken
place while legal loopholes were sought to prevent his departure.
Ayerdi has maintained until this same noon that he has not yet formally received the indictment - acknowledging that the condition that he has used during the last month and a half has not been met - and has been convinced that
the courts will ratify his innocence of both crimes
.
The former Navarrese councilor has refused to admit questions from journalists and has denounced UPN's "almost pathological obsession" by having publicly denounced, first, and then before the Justice, the granting of
public aid of 2.6 million
euros to the
Davalor Salud
company
.
Ayerdi, already as a director with Uxue Barkos, decided
unilaterally and against technical criteria, to
grant an
initial loan of 1 million
euros to Davalor from the public company Sodena in September 2015. To do so, he obviated the criteria of the majority of the board of Sodena administration that he replaced, in part, with people he trusted.
Two years later and due to the doubts of the technicians because Dabalor had not presented its accounts, it managed to approve
another aid of 1.6 million euros
for this company dedicated to the manufacture of machines for visual analysis.
The company had presented a business plan with sales of up to 40 units in 2015 - the year in which it obtained public aid from Aierd - but it was unable to sell any in that year.
Nor were its income and profit forecasts met - of up to 10,000 million euros accumulated in 2018 - so in July 2018 the bankruptcy was decreed, first, and its disappearance later.
"Today a stage is closed,"
Aierdi said goodbye before going to Chivite's office to deliver his letter of resignation although, formally, the former counselor is still waiting for the official letter from the Supreme Court informing him of his accusation.
