Todtmoss (dpa / lsw) - Because of too much rain, a sled dog race in the Black Forest this weekend was canceled.

The rain softened the snow.

The organizers announced on Friday that the race could not take place for safety reasons.

A sled dog race in the municipality of Todtmoos (Waldshut district) has never been canceled at such short notice.

Around 800 dogs and 60 dog handlers were expected.

This year the race would have taken place without spectators and without participants from abroad.

The race has been held since 1975 and otherwise attracts around 10,000 spectators.
