Kate Bingham admitted she had a happy smile on her face when asked about her nation's recent vaccination success on Friday morning on BBC radio.

"I even broke my 'Dry January' promise last night and had a glass of wine to celebrate the day," said Bingham, who until recently headed the UK Vaccine Task Force, the body responsible for vaccination strategy.

The reason for Bingham's good mood: In the United Kingdom, a preparation from Novavax will soon be a fourth and 89 percent highly effective agent for immunization against Covid-19. In addition, the vaccine was developed in-house and is produced in the north-east of England.
