The allocation of vaccination appointments in Hamburg can continue with some delay.

As the health authority announced, 33,500 appointments will be bookable from Monday (February 1st), which will be in the period from the beginning of February to March inclusive.

In addition, there would be the corresponding second appointments every three weeks.

In addition to the available appointments, further appointments are to be added several times a week.

The occupancy rate of the vaccination center will be increased to around 1,500 first and second vaccinations per day.

Most recently, only 500 vaccinations per day had been carried out here, the original plan was 7000 vaccinations per day - so the city is still a long way from that.

Who can come?

Hamburgers over 80 years of age and employees in outpatient and inpatient care are currently called upon to agree on appointments for the corona vaccinations.

Appointments can still be made by calling 116117 or at www.impfterminservice.de.

According to the authorities, it is still not possible to make an appointment for people who do not have the “highest priority” vaccination authorization (Section 2 of the Coronavirus Vaccination Ordinance). “Due to the high utilization of the hotline, the authorities ask that only by or for people is called with vaccination authorization ", it said in a message on Friday. For capacity reasons, it is also advised to not only use the early morning hours for calls, but the whole day. The activation is therefore staggered throughout the day.

Why aren't more appointments possible?

The authorities said: “Furthermore, the promised delivery quantities are very limited.

That is why cautious planning will also be necessary in the future. ”Over the next few weeks, however, further contingents are to be activated several times a week.

Depending on the availability of the vaccine, they would each include several thousand appointments.

The goal: “In this way, if the vaccine stocks increase, further appointments can be quickly assigned, which then take place promptly.

At the same time, however, in view of the scarce availability of vaccines, appointments can only be made to the extent that deliveries arrive in Hamburg. "

For Health Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) this is the right way, because “we want to confirm the date for the vaccination firmly and reliably.

We can therefore only make as many appointments as there is vaccine available. ”Gradually, everyone will be able to get an appointment.

“But we cannot promise you that we will be able to offer the appointment in the next few hours and days.

We have to approach both the allocation of appointments and the actual vaccination appointments step by step.

I would also like to ask those who have not yet been able to book an appointment: Try again in the coming days and weeks, ”continues Leonhard.

In the first few weeks there had been massive complaints about the handling of older people under the central number (WELT reported).

The city offers a car service for people who have booked a vaccination appointment but have no way of reaching the vaccination center.

What is vaccinated?

At the moment, all vaccinations are carried out in the exhibition halls with the vaccine from Biontech.
