The school principal in Örnsköldsvik municipality, Kristina Rastbäck, was on site during Friday morning to take part in the devastation and consequences after the night's fire.

She was able to establish that the preschool with two departments was completely destroyed in the fire.

- Of course I get very sad.

This affects children, students and guardians, it is unnecessary costs that affect the municipality.

Looking for new premises

At short notice, it has now been decided what the last school day of the week should look like for the students.

The youngest children will be temporarily taught in one of the school's undamaged parts as best they can.

The older children, from third and upwards, receive distance education.

At the same time, the school management is trying to find more long-term solutions.

- We are sitting down now, partly here, but we also have crisis management in the management group at the education administration where we look at different alternatives and opportunities.

We check here in the village if there are other premises for preschool children for example.

Then we have to make decisions based on that.

"Trying to find different solutions"

- Of course it also matters.

Everything is in order in this situation and we must weigh everything possible so that we can make as wise decisions as possible.

We need to have a dialogue with the staff to see what opportunities they have.

There are several administrations that are activated and that are trying to find different solutions, says Kristina Rastbäck.
