January 28, 2021 Six deaths in the United States result from a liquid nitrogen leak at a poultry plant in Gainesville, Georgia. 



The spokesman for the Northeast Georgia health system, Beth Downs, said, explaining that five people died in the facility before being transported to hospital, while the sixth victim died in the emergency room.



Nine other people were taken to hospital and three of them are in critical condition.



The chemical spill, the cause of which has yet to be ascertained, did not cause an explosion.



Firefighters report intervening at the company, Prime Pak Foods, shortly after 10 am local time. Plants handling poultry use refrigeration systems which can include liquid nitrogen.
