Greifswald (dpa / mv) - Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) has submitted new documents on the impact of the project on the climate in its ongoing lawsuit against the Nord Stream 2 Baltic Sea gas pipeline.

New findings have shown higher emissions of the greenhouse gas methane from natural gas production than previously assumed, the DUH announced on Thursday.

In August, the DUH had already filed a lawsuit with the Higher Administrative Court in Greifswald against the approval of the Stralsund Mining Authority for Nord Stream 2.

The spokeswoman for the Higher Administrative Court confirmed receipt of the new pleading.

Regarding the procedure, she said that a specific period for a decision could not be given yet.

The DUH demanded that the new findings be observed even after the approval has been granted.

This expressly provides for a subsequent review.

With the new submission, DUH is responding to briefs from the Stralsund Mining Authority and Nord Stream 2 AG.
