Los Angeles (dpa) - Noah Baumbach (51, “Marriage Story”, “The Meyerowitz Stories”) will be the first project to film the bestselling novel “Weißes Rauschen” (“White Noise”).

This was announced by the streaming service Netflix.

The New York writer Don DeLillo (84) delivered a bitter satire in 1985 about the threat to a small American town from a poison cloud.

Filming is scheduled to begin this year.

According to “Variety”, Adam Driver (“Marriage Story”) and Greta Gerwig (“Frances Ha”) are in discussion for the main roles.

The filmmakers Baumbach and Gerwig are a couple and have had one child since 2019.

Baumbach, who became famous for films such as "The Squid and the Whale" (2005) and "Greenberg" (2010), shot his first Netflix project in 2017 with the comedy drama "The Meyerowitz Stories", followed by "Marriage Story" .

The divorce drama starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Laura Dern was nominated for six Academy Awards in 2020.
