The American series "Bridgerton", star producer Shonda Rhimes' first delivery for Netflix, has been seen by 82 million households subscribing to the platform since its release a month ago, a record over four weeks according to the group.

The record was previously held by a completely different series, "The Witcher", an adaptation of a literary "heroic fantasy" series that had been viewed by 76 million accounts in the four weeks that followed. its online publication at the end of December 2019.

The figures published by Netflix are not subject to third party verification, unlike audience measurements for traditional television.

Adaptation of the historical novels of the American Julia Quinn, "Bridgerton" is set in 1813 in England and depicts the intrigues of good British society, with a very modern touch.

The language, the music, the feminist accent and the cast, with many diverse actors, break the codes of the historical series to make the subject accessible to as many people as possible.

The series has also become a small phenomenon of pop culture, largely fed by social networks, many Internet users having fun recreating scenes in costumes while working on their English accent.

Unsurprisingly, Netflix announced on January 21 that it had ordered a second season of "Bridgerton".

According to the specialist site FlixPatrol, the series was still third in the world in terms of daily viewings on Netflix on Thursday, behind “Fate: The Winx Saga”, an adaptation of the animated series “Club Winx”, and the inevitable “Lupine”.

Regarding the French series, the platform estimates that it could have been seen by 70 million accounts by February 5, that is to say during its first four weeks of operation, which would place it on the third step of the podium.
