Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In view of the upcoming anniversary of Gonzalo Castro, VfB Stuttgart is planning a small surprise for the midfield veteran.
The 33-year-old is expected to play for the 400th time in the Bundesliga in the home game against FSV Mainz 05 on Friday (8.30 p.m. / DAZN).
“When he makes his 400th game, he'll get a present from us.
This is a great milestone and speaks for a great career and a lot of experience, ”said VfB coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, who first made sure that he could reveal it on Thursday.
Only Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (423) and the former VfB captain Christian Gentner (416) have made more appearances in the top division than Castro, who used to be at Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.
