Winterberg (dpa) - The ski areas in the Sauerland and Willingen in Hesse are advocating a gradual exit from the corona lockdown.

The Sauerland winter sports arena, the amalgamation of the ski areas in the region, announced on Thursday that there are hygiene concepts with limited ticket sales and strict controls in order to offer safe winter sports.

If the number of corona infections continues to fall, they are calling for relaxation this season, which they want to implement "carefully and responsibly".

"The lift operators are thinking, for example, of test days, very small ticket contingents that would then have to be increased slowly," it said.

Visitors are to be guided by fences and information boards as well as controls on parking lots and access roads, and operating hours can be extended to distribute the increased demand.

They do not fear a rush like at the turn of the year.

This would be counteracted by the limited ticket sales.

In addition, experience shows that traffic outside of the holiday season is significantly lower anyway.

In addition, the ski areas point out that there is a significantly lower risk of infection in the fresh air than in closed rooms.

An opening of the ski areas could rather motivate people to be outdoors in order to reduce the risk of infection in rooms.

If the requirements are not relaxed, the lift operators are demanding more appropriate financial support.

The current offers of help were hardly effective in the case of the ski areas, it was said.

In effect, they would only be reimbursed 10 to 15 percent of their costs.
