Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - After the verdict in the Walter Lübcke murder case, North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) has spoken out in favor of putting Internet platforms on the curb.

"I think it is high time we talked about it: at which points must the network be intervened," said Reul on Thursday in the program "phoenix personally".

"We enjoyed this" freedom on the Internet "for decades, thought it was great and we protected it - and we didn't take the dangers behind it seriously."

There must be clear rules.

On the Internet, "driving the mood to its peak and thus creating the conditions that someone then goes out and shoots," said Reul.

The right-wing extremist danger should not be underestimated.

"We have to take right-wing extremism seriously, much more seriously than we did before," said the Christian Democrat.

The investigative authorities paid close attention, but could not create one hundred percent security.

«You can't fool yourself.

We have to be the best we can, we have to be early.

However, we also need the instruments to get hold of the information.

And that's the problem in the network. "

On Thursday the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main sentenced 47-year-old Stephan Ernst to life imprisonment for the murder of CDU politician Walter Lübcke.
