Dessau-Roßlau (dpa / sa) - A stuck motor ship has been towed free on the Elbe near Roßlau.

Presumably because of the low sun, the 63-year-old skipper did not recognize the fairway delimitation on Wednesday afternoon, the water police announced on Thursday in Magdeburg.

The ship got so stuck that it couldn't get free on its own.

The rescue was postponed to Thursday because of the falling darkness.

A tug boat from the Waterways and Shipping Office freed the ship.

Nobody was injured, and according to the information there was no damage to property or the environment.
