- We had no idea that the response would be so great, says Karin Bååth, business manager in Lessebo, who is responsible for the project.

According to the business manager, there are already about 80 stakeholders who have heard about it because they are interested in buying or renting a desolate house.

- There is a genuine interest that comes from both families, older and younger.

Some are really looking for the exceptional house of desolation that really lies desolate in the country and where you may not have done anything for many decades, says Karin Bååth.

Homeowners will be contacted soon

The municipality started the project at the end of November last year.

The goal is for more families to be able to move to the area and the municipality has now identified around 150 houses that are deserted.

- We have done various register runs where we, among other things, looked at whether anyone is registered on the property and if there is a subscription for garbage collection, Karin Bååth explains.

Within a few weeks, the municipality will make a first mailing to homeowners.

In the clip, Karin Bååth talks about why she thinks the interest in desolate houses is so great right now.
