Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein's Minister of Health Heiner Garg has called on the federal government to step up efforts in the procurement of vaccines.

The FDP politician reacted in horror on Thursday to the Twitter statement by Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU), according to which at least ten hard weeks would be ahead of the shortage of the vaccine.

"I think that the population can no longer be expected," said Garg of the German press agency.

"From the Federal Chancellery there are always new demands for ever stricter restrictions every 24 hours and at the same time there are only horror reports with regard to available vaccination doses."

In his view, this state of affairs could not be tolerated for ten weeks, said Garg.

"Against this background, I once again call on the federal government to do everything possible to ensure that sufficient vaccination doses are quickly and quickly available to Germany so that we can vaccinate our population quickly."
