Kiel (dpa) - In the fraud trial for a faked death in the Baltic Sea, the Kiel district court surprisingly postponed the verdict on Thursday.

There is still a need for clarification, said the presiding judge Carsten Teppein to justify.

An accused couple has to answer for attempted insurance fraud in the millions.

They are said to have tried to swindle around 4.1 million euros from 14 risk, life and accident insurance companies through the alleged death of the man.

The public prosecutor considered the accusation of jointly committed attempted insurance fraud to be proven in a particularly serious case.

She demanded four years in prison for the 53-year-old defendant and two years and ten months in prison for his wife of the same age.

The defense pleaded for acquittal - the defendants were stuck in preparatory acts and therefore not to be punished.
